VP & GM, Operations

  • Establish and communicate short and long-range goals, objectives and policies.

  • Create an environment of financial rigor and clear metrics, and ensure that corrective actions are taken when financial or operational performance lags.

  • Create and drive a world-class, flexible manufacturing operation and promote an organizational mindset committed to continuous improvement and capable of meeting the complex, engineered-to-order demands of customers.

  • Oversee budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, business plans and project/program analysis and decisions to meet financial and business goals of the Door Group.

  • Actively engage the customer base in high level selling and relationship building, and in gaining a better understanding of how the business can better serve its distribution partners and end users.

  • Conduct regular market and competitive analysis to identify trends and growth opportunities for the business.

  • Assess strength and growth potential of current product lines, and make intelligent investments in high growth areas.

  • Mentor the staff to ensure leadership and technical development while ensuring development plans exist and are executed.

  • Develop a mindset of driving costs out of the business while raising the bar on quality and delivery through more consistent processes. 

  • Focus on knowing the customer base and driving market-based innovation through "Voice of Customer".

  • Lead the team, providing a supportive environment, information, guidance, direction and authority to ensure execution of operating plans in accordance with the company's strategy and objectives.

  • Review the overall business results, comparing them to established objectives, and taking steps to correct unsatisfactory results.

  • Establish and maintain an effective system of communication throughout the organization.

  • Create a culture that values intelligent risk taking, people development and engagement, while constantly driving for performance.

  • Establish and sustain a culture where safety is passionately and effectively practiced by all employees in all aspects of the business and safety performance is tracked and discussed.

  • Abides by, supports and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, AADG policies and procedures and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business required, Master's degree preferred

Experience:

  • Have demonstrated achievements as the General Manager or Vice President/Director of Operations for a complex manufacturing business with a strong lean and operational excellence focus.

  • Have demonstrated experience and knowledge of financial statements, and how to read and interpret them.

  • At least ten years of experience in roles of increasing responsibility within a materials fabrication / manufacturing environment.  Experience in the hollow metal door / wood door industry a plus. 

  • Five or more years of managerial multi-location experience.

  • Experience (and demonstrated results achievement) with robotics, lean manufacturing/automation & lean office concepts.

  • Have strong commercial capabilities and be comfortable interacting directly with customers to build high level relationships.

  • Have strong belief in people development; creating an engaged and high performance work culture.

  • Have familiarity with a matrix sales organization.

  • Have a proven history of implementing lean manufacturing and driving operational efficiencies and profitability within a complex manufacturing environment.

  • Have recruited, developed and retained a talented and energetic leadership team. 

  • Have the ability to grow into more significant levels of P&L leadership within ASSA ABLOY.

  • Be as comfortable on a sales call as in the plant.

  • Be well organized and a user of intelligent metrics.

  • Be considered a hands-on leader who loves to engage at all levels and can get in the details, but who at the same time came operate at the strategic level and delegate effectively

  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people.

  • Comfortable on the production floor interacting with employees.

  • Highly functional in Microsoft Office suite of products.

  • Ability to travel 75% of the time, by all available means.
