ASSA ABLOY Wangli is committed to protecting the environment – a commitment that has won the company groundbreaking recognition
Earlier this year, ASSA ABLOY Wangli became the first security-door manufacturer in China to be awarded ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system (EMS).
The company’s senior management has declared environmental protection to be an essential factor for the company’s success.
Mike Qian, China Sustainability Director, says ASSA ABLOY Wangli has given the highest priority to environmental protection, establishing an EMS team to ensure the company meets the toughest international standards.
“We started to implement the ISO 14001 standard last year,” Mike says. “This covers areas including energy reductions from factory and office lighting, air-conditioning and automation. Everyone throughout the company is responsible for energy savings. All the staff are already helping reduce our use of energy, water and paper, for example.”
The environmental efforts are paying off. Consumption of electricity and raw metals for the second half of 2007 was down 9.35 percent on the first half – beating the reduction target by more than 2 percent.
The ISO 14001 certificate was granted by the respected China Certification & Inspection Group after a two-stage audit process.
ASSA ABLOY-Wangli Security Products
ASSA ABLOY-Wangli Security Products was formed as a joint venture in 2004 where ASSA ABLOY owns 70% and 30% is owned by its founding members.
The company is located in Zheijang, China and has 875 employees. Main products include security doors, garage doors, anti-theft locks and protective windows.
