ASSA ABLOY Australia has improved the recycling rate of onsite waste at Oakleigh.
The improvement was more than four percent in 12 months and is an important step in the company’s commitment to supporting the National Packaging Covenant (NPC).
The use of non-recyclable packaging continues at a low level of 0.3 percent, and significant rationalization of cartons has been achieved. The convenient availability of recycling facilities on the Oakleigh site is another asset.
The NPC is about minimizing the weight of packaging used while still protecting the product, maximizing the amount of packaging recycling and minimizing the amount of waste going to landfill.
Work has commenced on collecting waste and recycling data for our smaller sites around Australia. The activities that have proved successful at Oakleigh will be applied to these sites.
