Simplifying security for schools through partnership with Blackboard Inc. ASSA ABLOY has entered a strategic partnership agreement and product integration with Blackboard Inc. that will link ASSA ABLOY’s intelligent locks with the commerce and security management platform Blackboard Transact. The agreement with Blackboard Inc., the global leader in enterprise technology and innovative solutions for the education market, will facilitate seamless interaction between IP-enabled locks from CORBIN RUSSWIN and SARGENT and the Blackboard Transact platform, enabling schools to expand access control to any doorway using the ASSA ABLOY and Blackboard pairing. This helps schools expand their card services, while also reducing costs associated with traditional locking systems. The integration also provides administrators with an improved ability to manage and administer access control efforts to track and configure security system assignments, schedules, alarms and other functions. “This strategic partnership is part of a continued approach to increase levels of security, while providing added convenience for today’s students,” says David Marr, president of Blackboard Transact. “Our Blackboard Transact solutions, integrated with access control systems powered by lock partners such as ASSA ABLOY, create an opportunity for institutions to be innovative while delivering solutions that anticipate the needs of an ever-changing campus environment.” Martin Huddart, Vice President of Electronic Technologies for ASSA ABLOY Americas, says the ASSA ABLOY and Blackboard partnership benefits higher education campuses by expanding their access control options. “Our offering of online and offline locking solutions coupled with Blackboard Transact will simplify life for campus administrators and students,” Huddart says.
