Hi-O milestones at Swedish expo

The announcement of ASSA ABLOY’s first fully Hi-O-enabled product, at the SECTECH expo in Stockholm, Sweden, on Tuesday was eclipsed when event organizers named Hi-O the most innovative access control product at the show.

The judging panel of the 8th annual Detektor International Awards stated: “Hi-O, with its plug and play concept, is a powerful answer on the need of a true contemporary electronic door solution.”

The unexpected honor, followed ASSA ABLOY’s own ceremony when Group company Assa was presented with a certificate for developing the first Hi-O certified product.

The TKN-50, an ARX touch-button, was on prominent display at the ASSA ABLOY booth throughout the expo.

In presenting the certificate, Eric Michélsen, director of Interconnectivity Platforms at Shared Technologies, said TKN-50 was a “very important milestone that shows the market the capabilities of this technology.”

To be awarded Hi-O-enabled status, the TKN-50 button had to pass rigorous testing to ensure it met open standards (CAN and CAN Open) as well as Hi-O standards specified by ASSA ABLOY.

“We have 37 other products in the loop across the world, so the future of Hi-O is very bright,” Eric said.

Mogens Jensen, Assa’s market region manager for Scandinavia, said he was proud that such an important step in the Hi-O story had been made by Assa. “Everyone at Assa has put in a lot of hard work to make this happen. We are pleased not only to be first to market with a product, but that the next release of our ARX access control system will incorporate Hi-O functionality.”

Facts about Hi-O

Hi-O dramatically simplifies connection of the door environment to a centralized, computerized operating system through the use of internet protocol (IP). Created to be plug and play, Hi-O replaces the standard spider web of wiring with four cables, making installation simpler and activation a matter of seconds.
