Regional Business Development Manager Mining, Oil & Gas - Americas is responsible for establishing, developing, and promoting the Company's entrance into the mining, oil, & gas segment primarily in the Americas. This includes establishing a potential sales base from the early stages of this effort.

Job description

Regional Business Development Manager Mining, Oil & Gas – Americas, in collaboration with Vice President Global Business Development and the rest of the AAH Executive Management Team (EMT), is responsible for providing strategic leadership in establishing the goals, strategies, plans, and policies and sell to enter this market with emphasis on work camp accommodation for workers and for the execution of approved plans to deliver sales in the short and long term. 

  • Oversees and participates in development and research activities involving building on company strengths, identifying key players and business opportunities, increasing share of market, and obtaining a competitive position in the industry
  • Will develop, build, and maintain relationships with executives in key companies in target industries and markets
  • Will create and maintain relationships with key executives in architectural, specification, dealership, and design firms that deal in target markets
  • Will research available information to find potential accounts in both retrofit and new development projects
  • Will coordinate with the Company’s Sales and Business Development staff in the Americas to find leads and close sales (This is a key assignment)
  • Responsible for the strategies of prices, sales, marketing, advertising, and profitability of specific products for the market segment

Position responsibilities

  • Regional Business Development Manager Mining, Oil & Gas - Americas is responsible for promoting the company’s products, services, and solutions with an initial emphasis on selling to the mining, oil & gas sector in the Americas
  • Responsible for leading and handling negotiations with key accounts, including master agreements where applicable
  • Will maintain memberships in relevant trade associations and attend meetings for networking and exhibiting relevant products and systems, and follow up to achieve sales
  • Insure that all member benefits of associations are used to maximize networking and promotional efforts
  • Understand the specific needs of the mining, oil & gas industry and relate features and benefits of AAH solutions to them
  • Will arrange to create promotional material in print and electronically tailored to the segment
  • Will direct Marketing promotions and awareness to the industry
  • Perform presentations to potential accounts and other service providers, such as architects, designers, builders of modular homes, etc. on AAH solutions
  • Ensure that existing and potential accounts are kept informed and educated about the latest solutions, products, and services provided by the Company
  • Establish leads through available resources, such as Reed Connect, Association News and website listings, and other contacts
  • Coordinate with the Hospitality Sales organization to establish leads and sales contacts
  • Responsible for coordinating potential account activities with EMT members and other AAH executives
  • Coordinate with Customer Support and Technical Support to insure that all service and technical issues are resolved in an accelerated manner due to the increased physical needs of the end user and the care-giving components of this industry
  • Manage the budgeting process for budgeting for the marketing and sales activities to this industry
  • Responsible for informing management of the major happenings and relevant trends
  • Proactively gathers business intelligence and information regarding potential competitors, contracts, etc. of global key accounts
  • Define sales strategy including sales channel

Characteristics required

  • Manager with experience from Mining or Oil & Gas sector
  • Leadership presence and obvious stature
  • Self-driven, results-oriented executive with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high sales growth and increased profits in the short and long term
  • A leader with a proven track record of sales and new business development in relevant industry
  • Ability to critically assess one’s own, and the team’s, performance, measure against established objectives, and take appropriate actions
  • Ability to operate in an environment of teamwork, common goals, and transparency
  • Must possess strong and effective presentation and communication skills, whether one-on-one, in public settings, or via written media 
  • Adheres to highest ethics and commits to complying fully with ASSA ABLOY’s Code of Conduct

Candidates must have:

  • Must be a known high achiever in the related technical service industry
  • Five (5) years minimum experience in business development and sales management, including responsibility for key accounts, with adequate leadership experience
  • Good understanding and ability to present advanced technical products
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field as a minimum educational level
  • Willingness to Travel up to 70% within Americas, and to other worldwide destinations if requested to attend meetings or company events
  • Fluent in English and Spanish; Portuguese is an additional advantage
